2027 Sustainable Pest Management (SPM) Grants Program
The California Department of Pesticide Regulation has released the 2027 Sustainable Pest Management (SPM) Grants Program solicitation. The program supports projects that advance safer, more sustainable pest management practices through integrated pest management (IPM) research, outreach, education, implementation, and technology development in agricultural, urban, and wildland settings. Projects should focus on reducing the impacts of pesticide use on public health and the environment while promoting the adoption of sustainable pest management practices across California.
Note: Since 2026, DPR has combined its Research and Alliance Grants into a single SPM Grants Program
Program Priorities
The 2027 SPM Grants Program is particularly interested in projects that address one or more of the following priority areas:
- Alternatives for weed management
- Alternatives for rodent management
- Alternatives to fumigants
- Adoption of emerging technologies that advance IPM and sustainable pest management
- Emerging pests and prevention strategies
- Alternatives to pesticides prioritized for mitigation or evaluation by DPR
Competitive proposals should demonstrate strong research, partnerships, outreach, education, and/or training components, and have the potential for broad adoption and meaningful reductions in pesticide use.

- Award range: $100,000–$1,000,000

- Proposal limit: Up to two proposals as Lead Principal Investigator
