Lantana (Lantana camara, Lantana montevidensis) is an easy to grow drought tolerant plant that can be grown in beds, pots or hanging baskets. L. camara grows as a bush, and L. montevidensis, or trailing lantana, can be grown as a vine or shrub. Both are available in a wide variety of flower colors, such as white, yellow, orange, red, pink, lavender, purple and mixes of red and yellow. While it thrives in full sun, lantana can also do well planted in partial shade (though it will produce fewer flowers). Lantana requires regular water until established and up to 1” of water per week during the summer for maximum flower production. It grows up to 2’ high and 4’ in diameter. It does not require but does tolerate light fertilizer. Prune during late winter to maintain size and shape.
