General situation We're a little later than normal kicking off this season's projections for thrips, but the season is off to a slow start so we're not in too bad a position. It's still cold overnight.

2022 Second update

General situation: The main season crop is in the ground across the northern counties and canopies are filling out the beds nicely. The next 10 days is forecast to range from the high 70's to mid 90's, which is ideal conditions for thrips to develop.

General Outlook Well, here we are, the 2022 season is open for business. The first half of the winter was wet and cold, but since the turn of the year, we have seen next to no precipitation in the region. Temperatures have been more or less normal for the time of year.

General outlook A run of 100+ F daily maximum temperatures and warm nights will likely accelerate thrips development over the next week or more. A return to low 90's highs is expected in the second week of June.

General outlook Planting is underway in the Dixon area but a lot of crop area has only just gone in the ground. We're heading into to a run of slightly warmer weather which will last about a week and accelerate thrips development.
