Join me in celebrating Black History Month for 2026 with daily history delivered to your email. The 28 Days of Black History (Sign Up Link) is an independent, Black-women-led organization committed to providing accessible educational opportunities for all. This learning is part of Reclamation Ventures, which focuses on building community, sparking good ideas and mobilizing for impact.
The theme for 2026 is "A Century of Black History Commemorations." They are tracing moments throughout history where they have honored the Black American experience, from cultural moments of boundary-breaking to major individual and group achievements.
So far this month, they have shared the following historical learning:
- 02/04/2026 - Dive into the Fred Hampton Aquatic Center.
- 02/03/2026 - How a community-funded celebration sparked Jackie Robinson Day.
- 02/02/2026 - How June became Black Music Month.
- 02/01/2026 - This community defended their neighbor and defied the Fugitive Slave Act.
I will be hosting a lunch discussion on Friday, February 27, from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm to explore what we have learned and how the reflection questions helped us to become stronger allies for our Black community. Zoom Link
