SOMA Camp 2018-Introduction to Mushroom Identification

During Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend in January 2018, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a mushroom camp put on by the Sonoma County Mycological Association (SOMA) at the Catholic Charities CYO camp in Occidental, California (I assume SOMA leases the space for the mushroom camp).

Night Rider

I have three camellia plants, in my yard. The first one of the three shrubs blooms mid-January. The other two usually late February and March. The early bloomer is Camellia japonica 'Night Rider' just as the name suggests it is a very dark maroon almost black with semi double blossoms.

Succulent Garden

I recently visited family in Escondido. Just a few days before I arrived, the area was deluged with 4 inches of rain in a single day. The result was spectacular many cacti and succulents were blooming.
