In response to the request for academic Cooperative Extension position proposals issued last fall, members of the ANR community submitted 138 advisor and specialist positions. AVP Allen-Diaz has posted the entire list of proposed positions at http://ucanr.org/positions2011.
Virtually all of the proposals met important needs and would contribute to the Strategic Vision, the Strategic Initiatives and critical program needs. However, due to budget realities, 20 were chosen for priority hiring.

Dear Colleagues,
Today, I am announcing the first group of academic positions that I have approved for recruitment and hiring. As discussed below, these positions will be funded by salary reversions resulting from retirements and separations that have occurred over the last year.

Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the release of the Request for Proposals (RFP) for ANR’s competitive grants program.

With the initiation of implementation, in order to make the most of our available resources we are focusing on the following 5 initiatives: Sustainable Food Systems, Healthy Families and Communities; Endemic and Invasive Pests and Diseases, and Sustainable Natural Ecosystems, and Water.
The ANR Program Council has worked with ANR...

Recently, some have expressed concern over our plans to redirect endowment funds to align them with the Strategic Vision. ANR’s balancing act is to use precious resources in ways that are accessible to the Division as a whole, and to focus competitive grants dollars on new 5-year missions that the collective discussion has determined are the highest priorities. As we move forward, the endowments assigned to ANR will be administered in an open and...
