As you know, attracting and retaining highly qualified employees is a top priority for UC ANR. To be more competitive among many diverse employment markets, we have developed a plan to address the competitiveness of our staff salaries.
As part of UC ANR's overall Strategic Plan, I have approved a four-year Market-based Adjustment Plan for non-represented staff to ensure salaries of existing staff are better aligned with the labor market. All non-represented staff are eligible to participate in this plan, regardless of their position's funding source. I'm pleased to be able to offer some additional information on the Huron Consulting Group's review of UCOP's organizational structure and share their report with you. [See report attached to Feb. 8 ANR Update email.] I want to strongly emphasize that the options presented in the report are just that: possible options from one consulting firm while other reviews and consultations are also taking place. President Napolitano and UC Board of Regents Chair George Kieffer have both stated very clearly that the options presented by the Huron consultants are open to consideration, but may or may not be pursued; further analysis and feedback is desired.

UC's Office of the President (UCOP) recently commissioned a review by the Huron Consulting Group to assess UCOP's organizational structure as part of its continuous improvement process. The goal of the review is to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of UCOP, while aligning its work to best support the university's core mission.
The recommendations will serve to inform discussions around a comprehensive UCOP restructuring plan that will take place over the next 18 to 24 months, beginning this spring.
