After an extensive search, I am pleased to announce the appointment of John Fox as Executive Director – Human Resources for the Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources. In this position, effective October 1, 2015, John will assume the responsibilities of the consolidated human resources organization, as Linda Manton prepares to transition into her planned retirement.
John comes to ANR with extensive experience working with Office of the President HR policies, issues management, benefits and training programs. He has over twenty years of progressive leadership and human resources experience with the University of California.

Applications are now being accepted for the Fall 2015 Management Skills Assessment Program (MSAP). This program is designed to assess the management skills of high-potential, early-career staff supervisors and managers for future leadership opportunities at the University of California (academics are not eligible). The program is scheduled for October 12-15, 2015, at the UCLA Conference Center in Lake Arrowhead.

You may have seen an announcement from UCOP regarding the implementation of the UC Phased Retirement Program for January 1, 2015, through December 31, 2019. The intent of the Phased Retirement Program is to help eligible employees who are 55 years or older transition into retirement and allow for longer-term planning for employees, their families and the unit they work in.
ANR has decided that it will not offer the program in 2015 to avoid adding to the workload of our already thin workforce. One of the primary guidelines in the program prohibits the department from adding capacity to offset a participating employee's reduction in time.

ANR has been informed that UC Davis will be mailing letters regarding the bi-weekly pay conversion to all affected (non-exempt) staff employees whose paychecks are generated by the Davis campus. These letters will be mailed to the affected employee’s home address.

On Jan. 20, 2013, all nonexempt staff employees who are currently paid monthly will transition to a biweekly pay cycle paid hourly.
This change is one of the ways the university is preparing for the implementation of UCPath, a new integrated payroll and human resource information system that will be shared across all UC locations.
The transition process is as follows:
- Employees whose paychecks are processed by UC Davis will begin using a biweekly pay cycle on Jan. 20, 2013.
- Nonexempt employees will be moved to the biweekly pay cycle.
- Employees on the biweekly pay cycle will be paid every other week on Wednesday.
