The autumn months are such an easy time to decorate the garden, a front porch, or inside the home with items found in most gardens and nurseries. In October, start with a few mums transplanted from the garden into pots, pails, baskets, tubs, etc.

TREE: Oklahoma Redbud (Cercis canadensis var. texensis 'Oklahoma'). It belongs to the family of flowering plants called Fabaceae (Leguminosae) which is also called the legume, pea or bean family. This particular cultivar of the Eastern Redbud is a spectacular addition to your landscape.

Fall is the time when we are welcoming getting back into our kitchens. It's time to get out the slow cookers and turn the oven on, tackling some of the more complicated recipes we've been waiting to serve.

Fall is the perfect time to be thinking about planting bulbs. Come spring, you can have a dazzling display. Tulips, Narcissus (daffodils, jonquils, etc.) and hyacinth all true bulbs, are just some of the possibilities. For the best selection, choose plump, firm bulbs that feel heavy for their size.

Fall soil remains warm enough for planting trees, shrubs, most ornamentals, and cool season edibles. If we are fortunate, rain will provide all the water gardens need over the next few months. Working in our gardens can provide serenity, exercise, produce, and beauty that changes with the seasons.
