After harvesting and cooking their produce, students ask for seconds of kale How do you get notoriously finicky sixth graders to eat their leafy greens? Have them grow the vegetables themselves.

One of my favorite succulents is Crassula capitella 'Campfire'. The nursery tag describes it as a 12-inch sun to part shade plant. Here's a picture of a nursery purchase. As in all succulents, the leaves are plump and fleshy because they store water.

Recently, we recorded two videos on growing spring vegetables. The presentation reviewed how to prepare your garden soil, choose the plants you'd like to grow, and how to grow plants from seed or transplants.

All mistletoes infest and grow as parasites on trees and large shrubs. In some cases, the host plant can be severely damaged. But recent studies have shown that broadleaf mistletoes can shelter and feed wildlife, including birds and small mammals.
