If it's Friday, it must be "Friday Fly Day!" And a perfect day to post an image of a fly. This is a female tachinid, genus Peleteria, in the family Tachinidae. It is perched on a lavender in Vacaville, Calif. The genus is characterized by two prominent setae in front of the lower part of the eye.

UC employees are invited to meet the current staff advisors to the UC Board of Regents, aka STARs, Lucy Tseng (UCLA) and Priya Lakireddy (UC Merced) during an online session Feb. 24 at noon.

On Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, all the ANR servers will be taken offline for planned annual ANR IT server maintenance during the upcoming curtailment. There will be no access to the ANR portal, websites, file servers and applications, etc. between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Scientists at UC Davis have identified new root traits that help grapevines resist drought. The findings, published in the journal Annals of Botany, could speed up the development of grape rootstocks that protect vines from dry conditions, helping the grape and wine industry adapt to climate change.
