Fall 2020 Caused Cold Injury on Walnut In Tulare and Kings Counties

Freeze damage was reported in commercial walnut orchards throughout California during the winter of 2020. Although comprising the southern tier of the state's walnut-growing area, Tulare and Kings County orchards were not exempt from freeze damage.

What's better than a mint on your pillow? A mint moth in your garden! We ran across this colorful mint moth, Pyrausta californicalis (as identified by UC Davis distinguished professor Art Shapiro) on May 20 in a Vacaville bed of tall lavender.

I am not sure which nursery this plant came from. I have it growing in my garden now. I think it came from Sacramento since I seem to go to different nurseries in Sacramento mostly or it could have come from one of the UC Arboretum plant sales.
