Real Estate and Facilities Development

Real Estate and Facilities Development Department serves as a dedicated professional resource for the University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC-ANR). This department is responsible for comprehensive asset management and operational functions, including property selection, evaluation, acquisition, leasing, and/or disposition. We ensure compliance with University policies and procedures, on behalf of UC-ANR.

Currently, the Department, in coordination with the Office of the President, is responsible to oversee the revitalization of nine (9) research and extension centers across California. These facility enhancements are designed to strengthen UC-ANR’s outreach and bolster the integration into the broader California agricultural industry.

Eric Schueler is the Manager of Real Estate and Facilities Development (REFD) at the University of California, Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC-ANR).  In this role, Mr. Schueler is responsible for managing all facets of real estate acquisitions, dispositions, ground and building leases, as well as facility development. 

Before joining UC-ANR, Mr. Schueler was part of the Real Estate Services & Strategies Department at the University of California, Office of the President, where he held similar responsibilities.  His work included negotiating long term ground leases and Private-Public-Partnerships (3P) projects, ensuring compliance with UC procedures and policies, and securing Regental or delegated approval for each transaction. 

Prior to working for the University of California, Mr. Schueler garnered extensive experience in the private sector, managing commercial development and investment acquisitions for notable firms such as Sares Regis of Northern California, Panattoni Development Company, Pacific Union, Nearon Enterprises, and Meridian Property Company.  He started his real estate career as a commercial appraiser.

Mr. Schueler earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
