Course Description
The California Naturalist course introduces Californians to the wonders of our unique ecology and engages the public in study and stewardship of California’s natural communities. To fulfill the required 40 hours of education for certification, the 8-week class meets for 6 hours every Friday. Each week we cover a different subject and take field trips to local natural areas.

About the Instructor: Michele Roest is a biologist and lifelong resident of San Luis Obispo County. She teaches biology classes at Cal Poly and has offered a California Naturalist Course through Cuesta Community Education since 2018.
Organization Description: Community Programs is a fee-based department of Cuesta College offering not-for-credit education, recreation, aquatics, and youth programming in addition to other enrichment and certification courses.
