Crop Protection and Pest Management (CPPM) Program FY 2026
USDA NIFA has released the FY 2026 funding opportunity for the Crop Protection and Pest Management (CPPM) Program. This program supports integrated, multifunctional research, Extension, and education activities focused on addressing high-priority pest management challenges using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approaches at the state, regional, and national levels.
The program aims to support projects that improve agricultural productivity and profitability while responding effectively to pest management challenges involving insects, pathogens, nematodes, weeds, invasive species, and other agricultural pests. Priority will be given to projects addressing invasive species management and the development of innovative IPM technologies and strategies.
Only the Agricultural Research and Development Program (ARDP) track is currently open for new ANR applications, as the second track (Regional Coordination Program) is tied to an existing renewal project.
Research Priorities
Applications to the ARDP area must address one or more of the following priorities:
- Development of tools and tactics essential for pest management systems, including biocontrol, cultural/physical/mechanical control, host plant resistance, monitoring methods, decision-support tools, and novel uses of chemicals.
- Advanced understanding of how interactions among management tactics influence pest management effectiveness within agricultural ecosystems.
Integrated projects must address at least one of the above research priorities in addition to one or more of the following Extension priorities:
- Development of extension materials and outreach delivery systems.
- Implementation of field-scale or on-farm demonstrations.
- Delivery of IPM extension outreach and training activities.
Additional program requirements include documented stakeholder-identified IPM needs, multi-state or regional impact, multidisciplinary and systems-oriented approaches, coordination with regional IPM centers and multistate activities, and alignment with the National IPM Roadmap

California Strawberry Commission
The California Strawberry Commission (CSC) invites qualified researchers from public and private research organizations to request funding for projects that will directly benefit the California strawberry industry. Both applied and basic research projects with clear benefits to the industry will be considered.
For the 2027 funding year, both new and continuing research proposals should be submitted in response to this request for proposals (RFP). Proposals are considered New if they represent research that is not currently funded by the Commission, or if they are continuations of previously funded, but completed projects. Proposals will be considered Continuing if they are currently being funded by the Commission and are seeking funds for further work. For Cal Poly Strawberry Center faculty, continuing projects require only the submission of a Project Update per the contracting guidelines.
Key program details:
- Letter of Intent Deadline: June 15, 2026 (Not used as a pre-selection process)
- Application Deadline: July 6, 2026
See the Strawberry Commission NOFO or more information on how to prepare and submit your letter of intent and full proposal.
