About the Event

UC Master Gardener Leslie Muennemann will share her family's journey of creating a native landscape. While working and raising a family for a few decades, their previously landscaped yard reverted to its natural state. Once Leslie and her family had more time, they decided to create a garden that would fit their rural, riparian neighborhood. After installation, they had to learn how to care for it, and that learning continues. California natives' care is not like caring for your conventional landscaped garden.

UC Master Gardener Presenter Leslie Muennemann: Leslie has gardened her entire adult life. In 2008, she became a UC Master Gardener of San Mateo and San Francisco Counties. Besides editing a weekly, internal newsletter for Master Gardener volunteers, she starts vegetable seeds indoors for her year-round, three-bed vegetable garden, and occasionally shares her experience growing cool season vegetables and native plants.
