Fall Pruning of Small & Medium Shrubs: A Beginners Workshop
About the Event
Pruning combines plant science, skill, art and intuition. Learning to prune is an important skill for gardeners, which enables you to be better prepared to improve your plant’s health, control the shape and size of your plant, and increase flower and fruit size and beauty. In this workshop, you will learn about pruning in general, review plant anatomy, practice the basic pruning cuts, and discover the different times to prune and why.
UC Master Gardener Presenter Melissa Mason: A UC Master Gardener since 2015, Melissa specializes in California native plants. In 2019 she initiated and led the San Carlos Native Plant Habitat Garden Project, where Master Gardeners planted more than 80 species of native plants in an 8000 sq ft park area in San Carlos. Currently, Melissa and her team are researching and developing “Plant Notes,” which are individual educational materials that feature information on how to grow and maintain a single plant or plant family. Each Plant Note is tailored to our region, in a thorough and concise format and available online.
