Webinar 1: Virtual Fencing: The Benefits and Challenges Told by Ranchers and Practitioners (FREE)

In this webinar ranchers who use virtual fencing will share their experiences; including what influenced their decisions to use virtual fencing or choose a provider, what is working well, the challenges they encountered, and how they overcame them (if they did). 

The discussions are intended to help those considering virtual fencing or currently using virtual fencing and looking to improve their practices; and provide practical insights into how to use the technology to meet management goals.

Goal
To explore ways ranchers can make informed decisions about adapting and using virtual fencing by learning from the real-world experiences of other ranchers. 

Outcomes

1. Attendees will identify key factors to consider when deciding whether to adopt virtual fencing and selecting a provider.

2. Attendees will gain practical insights into what is working, common challenges, and strategies ranchers have used to address them. 

3. Attendees will identify ways virtual fence could be used to better meet grazing and land-management goals.

Please join the Central Coast Rangeland Coalition for a visit to the Regenerative Grazing Open Air Lab (R-GOAL), the U.S. Army's first regenerative agriculture program. This site visit will help explore the opportunities and challenges of collaborative grazing management on a military site at Camp San Luis Obispo.

Led by Major Eric Czaja, this program is the first of its kind that also integrates research and education for military veterans. The goals of R-GOAL are to integrate adaptive multi-paddock (AMP) grazing with virtual and electric fence to support ecosystems services and military readiness. This pilot program is serving as a model for scaling grazing as a land management tool at military installations across the United States. 

Goal
Explore opportunities for ranchers and land managers to collaborate and utilize adaptive grazing management in landscapes with competitive land-use interests. 

Outcomes

1. Attendees will evaluate lessons learned from the R-GOAL pilot program related to the implementation of virtual fence technology in a multi-use landscape.
2. Attendees will discuss how research, education, and workforce development, including opportunities for military veterans, can be incorporated into regenerative agriculture programs.
3. Attendees will evaluate lessons learned from the R-GOAL pilot program that may inform the use and scaling of adaptive grazing management as a land-management tool at other multi-use landscapes.

Webinar 2: Finding Common Ground: Collaborative Grazing Planning for Shared Stewardship of Cultural and Natural Resources (FREE)

This webinar explores collaborative research at Cal Poly's Swanton Pacific Ranch. Working alongside tribal partners, land managers, archaeologists, and rangeland conservation professionals, the research team is developing strategies to preserve cultural resources while supporting sustainable cattle grazing on working landscapes. Learn how remote sensing, geophysical assessments, and traditional ecological knowledge are helping inform resource and grazing management plans that balance cultural stewardship with resilient rangelands.
