The California Research and Innovation Roadmap, developed by UC ANR with CDFA, the CA AgTech Alliance, and other partners, identifies four innovation priorities: water and soil management, pest management, automation and technology, and biomass. UC ANR already uses the Roadmap in onboarding our new academics. This survey moves from high level priorities to specifics: which commodities face which problems, where, and what those problems cost growers. The results will be published in November and added to a reprinted Roadmap that will guide research, programming, and investment across the state. The more data we collect, the better we can serve growers' needs.
