Amanda Charles

Amanda Charles is part of UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) in Sonoma County, where she supports agricultural producers through outreach, education, technical assistance, and applied research. Her work focuses on connecting farmers and ranchers with resources and supporting the adoption of practices that promote the environmental and economic sustainability of agricultural operations.

As part of UC Agriculture and Natural Resources’ Climate Smart Agriculture team, Amanda leads outreach and engagement for CDFA’s Climate Smart Agriculture programs across Sonoma, Marin, and Mendocino counties. She works directly with producers interested in programs including the Healthy Soils Program (HSP), Statewide Water Efficiency Enhancement Program (SWEEP), and Alternative Manure Management Program (AMMP). Her work includes helping producers understand program requirements, navigate the application process, develop project ideas, and connect climate-smart practices with their farm or ranch operations. Outside of the program periods, she coordinates educational workshops and builds partnerships with agricultural organizations, agencies, and community partners to expand access to resources and strengthen support for local producers.

Her work in the county also includes supporting research and outreach projects related to climate-smart agriculture, including alternative manure management, rangeland management, soil health, and other practices that provide environmental and agricultural benefits.
