Structure

Museum of the American Indian is offering the California Naturalist certification course in Marin County in Novato's Miwok Park. The Museum of the American Indian (MAI) in collaboration with UC Environmental Stewards is offering a new California Naturalist certification course designed to promote a greater understanding of California and Marin County's natural and cultural history.

As it is the mission of the Museum of the American Indian to uplift, support, and make visible the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas, this course will incorporate Indigenous heritage tied to each class theme. The course will immerse you in California’s rich ecological and cultural history, as well as inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Golden State’s natural ecosystems, wildlife, and resources. The program offers a well-rounded learning experience utilizing a mix of science curricula, guest speakers including local First Nation knowledge-bearers, and field trips. The program also introduces project-based engagement designed to equip you with the insight and skills to engage conservation efforts, participatory science, volunteer opportunities in environmental and cultural organizations, and roles as Naturalists and Nature Interpreters.
