About the Event
We are excited to announce a series of one day workshops focusing on virtual fencing. Workshops will cover different topics related to virtual fencing, including livestock management, funding opportunities, targeted grazing applications, and more. Each workshop will be different so we hope you will want to attend all of them!
Please check back here about a month before the event for details of the topic. The workshop dates are:
Monday, March 2
Friday, May 8: Virtual fencing for sheep, including for targeted grazing, fuels reduction and weed control. The workshop will also cover technical/financial assistance available from NRCS.
Friday, August 14
Saturday, October 17
In the May 8th workshop you will learn from HREC staff about what virtual fencing is and why HREC is using it. You’ll also hear from a UCCE Livestock and Natural Resources Advisor/sheep producer who will talk about using virtual fence with sheep and for targeted grazing. Finally you’ll hear from NRCS about financial assistance for virtual fencing. There will be an optional field tour to see a demonstration of No Fence collars on sheep grazing between Shippey Hall and our bunkhouse. If you'd like to join the Field tour, please bring your own bagged lunch.
