Four workshop were developed for the Alternatives to Citrus Project. All of them cover Huanglongbing, the deadly disease of citrus that is spreading in residential citrus trees in Los Angeles County and surrounding areas.
The two Beyond Citrus workshops focus on non-citrus fruit trees that perform well in Southern California's Mediterranean climate. The first, is an introduction to selecting, planting and caring for various temperate and subtropical fruit trees. The second, features four fruit trees that produce in the fall: pomegranates, persimmons, figs and jujubes.
The Citrus Care workshop explores the selection and care of the many types of citrus that can be grown in Southern California.
The Asian Citrus Psyllid & Huanglongbing Disease workshop covers this invasive insect and the disease it transmits to citrus trees in greater detail than the other workshops.
