Estimating the Cost of Replacing Forage Losses on California Annual Rangeland

Valuable forage is often lost on annual rangelands because of wildfires, cultivation, and other disturbances.  Estimating the cost of forage losses cannot be based upon traditional grazing rental rates for livestock because the impact on forage production extends beyond 1 year.
