A Different Path to Climate Science

Daniel Swain began sharing his fascination with California weather and climate online while still in high school. What started with Weather West in 2006 grew alongside his scientific career into a broader approach to public science engagement that now spans digital platforms, traditional media, real-time interpretation, and public conversation.

Today, Daniel engages mass audiences on weather, climate, wildfire, and water-related issues—bringing research and scientific context into public conversation while major events are still unfolding.

Science Can Start With Curiosity

Daniel's path is a reminder that science communication does not have to begin at the end of a scientific career. Curiosity, observation, and a willingness to share what you are learning can become part of the scientific journey itself.
