Salsa Del Diablo LLC is a well-established value-added food business with more than a decade of operation, producing salsa using locally and regionally sourced vegetables, fruits, herbs, dairy, and other agricultural ingredients. The company has built a strong reputation through direct store distribution and deep relationships with local farms and suppliers along the Wasatch Front. As demand for their products has steadily increased, the business is now positioned for regional expansion to reach new markets and customers.
Through this project, Salsa Del Diablo LLC is expanding its cold storage and distribution capacity to support regional distribution. Business Builder funding will be used to install a new, energy-efficient walk-in cooler with larger access doors to accommodate palletized product, as well as to purchase a forklift for pallet loading. These upgrades will double the company’s cold storage capacity, improve workflow efficiency, and enable pallet-based distribution. With these improvements, the company will transition from direct store delivery to working with a regional distributor, opening access to 11 new markets and approximately 400 additional retail stores.
The project is expected to drive significant economic and community impact. Salsa Del Diablo anticipates a 20% increase in sales—approximately $160,000 in new revenue within the first year—while also increasing purchases from local farms, wholesalers, and packaging partners by at least 20%. Currently sourcing from seven local farms and five regional partners, including New Roots refugee farm program and Bangerter Farm, the company’s expansion will directly strengthen local agriculture and food system partners. By improving infrastructure and expanding distribution, Salsa Del Diablo LLC will enhance efficiency, boost regional food access, and create lasting economic benefits for local producers and suppliers.
