About the Event

Houseplants enhance home aesthetics and provide a rewarding hobby. Greenery has a naturally calming effect on the body and mind, and the simple act of caring for a plant promotes relaxation. A brief introduction to understand houseplant names will begin the session followed by the different methods to propagate houseplants. In-depth information will be presented about the following houseplant groups: flowering plants; easy and low light plants; orchids; foliage plants; palms; succulents and cacti; hanging, trailing, and climbing houseplants; bulbs; large indoor houseplants; and ferns. The session will conclude with an overview of beautiful plant displays.

UC Master Gardener Presenters Cindi Morris and Cynthia Nations

Cindi has had a love affair with plants since 4th grade. Her father worked at Ferry Morse Seed Company and she loved peeking into the labs to see all the experiments. She enjoys germinating seeds and finds it fascinating how a small seed can turn into a beautiful plant.

After devoting a career in education, Cynthia became a UC Master Gardener in 2015 after moving to California from Texas. She is semi-retired and enjoys her grandchildren, succulent and organic vegetable gardening, mixed-media painting and other projects in Half Moon Bay.

Registration is required.
