What is composting? Composting is a natural process by which organic materials decompose. Backyard composting is a controlled or managed version of the natural process. What is compost? Compost is the soil amendment product that results from proper composting.

First, many of the items that might be disposed of as trashmany kinds of yard, household, and kitchen wastecan be utilized in the composting process. This means less trash to be hauled away by private or municipal waste companies and less expense.
