Recently I [Matt] had a chance to interview 4-H youth member Kamden who is also this year's 4-H club president for Placer Hills in Placer County. The following are Kamden's responses to my questions.

This year was particularly bad for peach leaf curl and other fungal infections in fruit trees because of the wonderful rain we had last winter and spring. It looks like we might have another wet winter, so we are rerunning this post to remind you to think about a spray program for your trees.

I have been thinking about all the gardening mistakes I have made over the years. They are many and varied. The ones earliest in my gardening career were some of the most outrageous.

We have had our first rain, and the nights are starting to get cold. Napans are fortunate: we can enjoy our gardens pretty much year-round and that includes working in them. I welcome rain. First, it means fire season is over. It also softens the soil, making it easier to pull out weeds.
