Healthy California wildlands were managed with periodic wild and cultural fires for millennia. As the state's population and development grew, officials suppressed most fires out of concern for people, homes and businesses.

With a $379,785 grant from CAL FIRE, UC Cooperative Extension and the Resource Conservation District of Monterey County are spearheading a community effort to create a prescribed burn association along California's Central Coast region.

Our community has made incredible strides in growing our virtual presence. Programs are hosting workshops via Zoom, drop-in training on Facebook Live, and broadly sharing educational videos via YouTube.

UC ANR is currently in Phase 2 of our re-opening plan. Guided by a new emergency response team, we have basic mitigation protocols for all UC ANR work.

DroneCamp is IGIS's flagship event of the year. Now in it's 4th year, the program started out as a 2 1/2 day mash-up of several half-day workshops created by Sean Hogan on using drones for research data collection.
