Sommer is a proud UC Master Gardener, class of 2016, and a San Diego native with deep roots in the community. She writes the edible gardening column Grow in Abundancefor the San Diego Horticulture Society, where she shares practical tips and inspiration for growing your own food. Passionate about cultivating edible gardens and increasing access to healthy food, Sommer brings that same energy to her work as a fundraiser with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, where she’s spent the past nine years supporting youth and community programs.
She holds a Master’s degree in International Development and Social Change and has a lifelong love for travel, cooking, the outdoors, and camping.
