10:00 am — Container Gardening
Would you love to grow sun-loving vegetables or flowers, but don’t have enough sun in your yard? Do you live in an apartment and don’t have any ground to plant in? Would you like to walk out your back door and pick something amazing to eat or some beautiful flowers for a vase? Then container gardening is for you! Come join Master Gardener Laura Westley as she teaches you all about successfully growing plants in containers. You’ll learn what containers to use and the requirements for soil, fertilizer, and water to keep your container garden growing all season! She'll also do a demo planting in a container.
11:00 am — The 3 R’s for Fall Soil — Remove, Recover, and Replenish
At the end of our summer growing season, our soil has produced what we hope was a bountiful harvest of summer produce. Now you have to pay the soil back for all this wonderful garden production. And how do we make all this happen? By planting cover crops! Join Master Gardener Bob Bowe to learn how the 3 R’s will enrich your soil for the next season’s garden.
Noon — Success with Cool Season Vegetables
Master Gardeners Candace Simpson and Karen Schaffer will share tips on how to plant and maintain a healthy, productive cool season vegetable garden. Topics will include soil preparation, plant selection, and pest management. Plant now and eat all winter long!

10:00 am — The Pickled Ukes
The Pickled Ukes is an ukulele band that meets every Monday at the YMCA in Morgan Hill at 2 pm. They welcome all skill levels. Their mission is to have fun, nurture positive relationships with each other, and share their songs with the local community.
11:00 am — The Basics of Kitchen Gardening
New to gardening? Join Master Gardener Kathy Kaplan to learn how to create a kitchen garden, whether large or small, from the ground (soil) up. During this talk, we’ll cover light requirements, plant selection, soil amendments, and garden location will be discussed. Yes, you will learn that even an apartment balcony can be a “kitchen garden”.

Join Master Gardener Kathy Kaplan for a demonstration to learn how to grow your own garlic in time for fall planting.
11:30 am — Save Rain, Grow More!
Join Master Gardener Hank Morales to discover how our demo garden captures and repurposes rainwater to make the most of this precious resource. Learn simple, sustainable ways to conserve water and keep your garden thriving! Meet by the water tanks near the corner of the main pavilion.
Noon — Cover Crops, Hands-on Demonstration
Now that you want to plant a cover crop, how do you actually do it? What effort does it take? (Answer: Not much!) What rewards do you receive by having a cover crop? (Answer: A lot!) Join Master Gardeners Jim Bell and Bob Bowe for a hands-on, how-to cover crop demonstration. We’ll show you how to prepare a planting area, seed, grow, and manage the cover crop from fall to spring.

9:30 am — BUG Study
Be a citizen scientist and participate in the BUG study: Biodiversity in Urban Gardens. Master Gardener Aparna Bugwadia will explain how, then take you on a guided walk through our native plants along the south fence.
10:30 am — Planting & Maintaining your New California Native Plants
Now that you’ve got them, what are you going to do with them? Learn tried-and-true methods for ensuring that your new babies get the best start possible from prep, to putting them in the ground, to making it through their first year! Join Master Gardener Paula Stapleton to learn about planting and maintaining your California native garden.

10:00 am — Bewitching Botanicals: A Walk to the Garden-to-Glass Collection
Take a walk with the three “Weird Sisters” for a Halloween-inspired journey through the gardens to the Garden-to-Glass collection, nestled among the orchard trees. Along the way, you’ll encounter a Count with a taste for botanical potions and explore the botany, flavors, and stories behind plants used to create delicious beverages. Together, you’ll conjure up edible plant combinations, discover a bit of the science and safety behind them, and take home recipes for enchanting elixirs you can create at home.
