Branding & Marketing Information
Note Before You Proceed
This page is a slightly abbreviated version of the State 4-H Branding Toolkit Page. It has been streamlined to only include images and guidelines that would apply to the average 4-H volunteer or youth leader at the club or project level. Please refer to the State site if you are making anything unusual or complicated.
Branding Checklist
When preparing a flyer, webpage, or any other outreach item be sure to follow these guidelines to make sure you're promoting 4-H in a visually consist way and in a way that respects applicable trademarks and copyrights.
- 4-H logo follows the guidelines set by the USDA: The logo is upright, proportionate, and the correct color; No words or images are obstructing the clover and the “18 U.S.C. 707” symbol has not been removed.
- 4-H name abides by the guidelines set by the USDA: I have checked to make sure that the hyphen is included in all “4-H”s and “4-H” has not been split over two lines.
- I have included the UC ANR logo in my document.
- I have consistently used UC ANR brand elements, including recommended fonts and colors.
- I have included the non-discrimination statement on my document.
- I have included the wheelchair accessibility icon if applicable; if the activity is not wheelchair friendly I have worked with the County 4-H Office to include proper language.
- Link to county 4-H office website and county 4-H contact information.
4-H Clover
Essentially, you must use one of the Clovers below and not materially alter, cover up, or distort it.
The clover is not just copyrighted, it is specifically protected by an act of Congress so it is extremely important that you use it properly.

The "H's" on the green clover can be white, black or metallic gold. |
|
|
The "H's" on the black clover should be white. |
|
|
The "H's" on the white clover can be black or green. |
|
|
The "H's" on the metallic clover can be white, black, or metallic gold (when embossed). |
UCANR Logo
California 4-H is part of the University of California Agriculture & Natural Resources, so it is important to include their logo (once again, not altered or distorted) in all materials.
Below is the most commonly used version of the 4-H UCANR logo. You can find additional layouts and Spanish versions of this logo at the California 4-H Brand Toolkit page.

Non-Discrimination Statement & Accessibility
The appropriate non-discrimination statement should be included on all one-page flyers and other outreach and marketing materials.
The statement is usually found in the footer of the document and may be in a smaller font than the rest of the text.
English

Acceptable substitutes are Times New Roman (serif) in place of Minion Pro and Verdana (sans serif) in place of Cronos Pro. Additional fonts may be used for various projects/activities.
In addition to using the 4-H green, the UC ANR color palette is recommended as a best practice for designed materials and web pages.
