During our meeting this week, NIFA Director Scott Angle met with the group and shared a number of updates. Things are moving quickly to relocate NIFA to Kansas City. About a dozen staffers and 8 program people will remain in DC. Program staff have until the end of this week to apply to remain in DC.

On April 1st, I started my internship with the University of California Desert Research and Extension Center (UC DREC) and the Farm Smart program. When I began this internship, my only experience was working with high school and college students.

After providing 29 years of service, UC Cooperative Extension Specialist and Associate Agricultural Experiment Station Dean Dave Campbell retires July 1. Long-time colleague Rose Hayden-Smith asked Dave to reflect on his career and offer advice for those rising in the academic ranks.

The National School Lunch Program provides nutritionally balanced free and reduced price lunches to children of low income families in need. The summer time can be difficult for those families as children are not provided a healthy meal when school is out.
