Food and Agriculture Project
New Nevada County 4-H Food and Ag Science Project!
Youth ages 9-13 are invited to join a fun new 4-H project! We are going to be doing lots of fun, hands-on activities! This is a great opportunity for youth to develop new knowledge and skills in science, healthy living, gardening, cooking, and tasting yummy new recipes!
We hope you will consider being part of this exciting and fun new project! Please fill out this short survey to express your interest and we will contact you with details about signing up: I want to sign my child up for the Food and Ag Project!
Participation requires becoming a 4-H member. The enrollment fee for Nevada County 4-H is $40. You can join 4-H just for this project, or join and do other 4-H projects as well. Considerations can be made if your child would like to participate in the program and you are unable to afford the $40 enrollment fee.
The project will meet in Penn Valley on a couple of Sunday afternoons a month, starting in January and will continue through May. Those who complete the project will receive a project pin.
We will be meeting at the Penn Valley Fire Department

Teen Teachers Wanted for the Food and Ag Science Project!
Are you 14-18 years old (as of December 31, 2016) and looking for an opportunity to connect with your community? Teens in Nevada County are invited to participate in a food and agriculture education program sponsored by the University of California Cooperative Extension and the Nevada County 4-H Youth Development Program. As a trained teen educator, you will teach hands-on nutrition, gardening, and cooking activities in a new 4-H project, using curriculum developed by the University of California. No previous experience is necessary.
This is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others! Volunteer hours can be counted toward school community service obligations, and this project offers in-depth, quality extracurricular and leadership experience for college applications. The Nevada County 4-H Youth Development Program offers letters of recommendation for college or employment applications.
The project will meet twice monthly beginning in October and continuing through April.
The Teen Teacher training will be held Monday, October 24, 2016, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm, in the dining hall at the Grass Valley Veterans Building, 255 S. Auburn St., Grass Valley. Please register for the training here:
