Food and Ag Project

Nevada County 4-H Food and Ag Science Project!

Youth ages 9-13 are invited to join the 4-H Food and Ag project! We are going to be doing lots of fun, hands-on activities! This is a great opportunity for youth to develop new knowledge and skills in science, healthy living, gardening, cooking, and tasting yummy new recipes!

Please fill out this short survey to express your interest and we will contact you with details about signing up: I want to sign my child up for the Food and Ag Project!

Participation requires becoming a 4-H member. The enrollment fee for Nevada County 4-H is $48. You can join 4-H just for this project, or join and do other 4-H projects as well. Considerations can be made if your child would like to participate in the program and you are unable to afford the $48 enrollment fee.

For parents/guardians: The food and ag science project will be led by trained teen 4-H youth leaders who will deliver hands-on activities with guidance and support from 4-H staff. Teen teachers are able to build connections with younger youth and serve as role models.

We hope you will consider being part of this exciting new project! Please fill out this short survey to express your interest: http://ucanr.edu/survey/survey.cfm?surveynumber=18225

Are you 14-18 years old (as of December 31, 2017) and looking for an opportunity to connect with your community? Teens in Nevada County are invited to participate in a food and agriculture education program sponsored by the University of California Cooperative Extension and the Nevada County 4-H Youth Development Program. As a trained teen educator, you will teach hands-on nutrition, gardening, and cooking activities in a new 4-H project, using curriculum developed by the University of California. No previous experience is necessary.

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others! Volunteer hours can be counted toward school community service obligations, and this project offers in-depth, quality extracurricular and leadership experience for college applications. The Nevada County 4-H Youth Development Program offers letters of recommendation for college or employment applications.

The project will meet twice monthly beginning in October and continuing through April.
