This is a friendly reminder that nominations for the ANR Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Program for fiscal year 2014-15 must be submitted to anrstaffpersonnel@ucanr.edu by Thursday, April 30, 2015.
The STAR program allows ANR unit directors, managers and supervisors the opportunity to nominate outstanding ANR staff employees and employee teams below the executive level.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2015 Management Skills Assessment Program (MSAP). This staff program is designed to assess the management skills of high potential, early career supervisors, managers and professionals for future leadership opportunities at the University of California (academics are not eligible to participate). This year an integrated MSAP program is being offered with both northern and southern locations participating in one program that will include participants from the entire UC system. The program is scheduled for April 20 – 23, 2015, at the UCLA Conference Center in Lake Arrowhead.

I am pleased to inform you that at the direction of President Janet Napolitano, the University is making plans to implement a systemwide salary increase program for policy-covered (non-represented) career staff employees and faculty/academics for the 2014-15 fiscal year.
Non-represented staff employees
Effective July 2014, ANR non-represented career staff employees, excluding student employees, will receive a three (3) percent across the board salary increase, subject to the criteria set out in the implementation guidelines that will be communicated to you in the near future. I am pleased to inform you that the University will be implementing systemwide salary increases for the 2013-14 fiscal year for all non-represented career staff employees.
The increases, which were authorized by President Yudof, are intended to acknowledge the fact that non-represented staff employees have received only one general salary increase in the past five years. The increases also are intended to partially offset increased retirement and health benefit costs that faculty and staff have absorbed over the past few years.

Dear Colleagues,
The University of California is seeking comments on its proposed Phased Retirement Program that would help employees who are 55 or older transition into retirement. Senior Management Group members and academics would not be eligible for this program. The program would be subject to collective bargaining for represented employees.
UC wants to offer this program as an optional tool that locations and organizational units may choose to provide to eligible career staff employees as an opportunity to transition into early retirement. The program would allow staff members to reduce their work hours by at least 10 percent a year over a fixed period, from 120 days up to three years, before retiring. In exchange,...
