Dear Colleagues:
In 2012, ANR will seek supplemental proposals for advisor and specialist positions to address programmatic gaps that were not previously identified or that have arisen since the last call.
The exact schedule for position proposals is being finalized, but the call will be issued in January with the submission deadline in mid-May. The submission period is being extended to allow as much time as possible for internal consultation and external input from ANR stakeholders in all program areas.

Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce the second group of academic positions approved for recruitment and hiring. Eleven positions, including five specialists and six advisors, are being released for recruitment. As discussed in previous communications, these positions will be funded by salary reversions resulting from retirements and separations that have occurred over the last year.

The five new academic positions originally announced by VP Dooley on April 29 are now posted and ready for recruitment.
The positions, all UCCE advisors, are:
- Delta crops resource management advisor - San Joaquin, Sacramento, Solano, Yolo and Contra Costa counties
- Livestock and natural resources advisor - Kern, Tulare and Kings counties
- 4-H youth development advisor – Central Sierra Multi-county Partnership - El Dorado, Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties
- Urban integrated pest management advisor - Bay Area - Contra Costa, Alameda, San Mateo, San Francisco and Santa Clara counties

In response to the request for academic Cooperative Extension position proposals issued last fall, members of the ANR community submitted 138 advisor and specialist positions. AVP Allen-Diaz has posted the entire list of proposed positions at http://ucanr.org/positions2011.
Virtually all of the proposals met important needs and would contribute to the Strategic Vision, the Strategic Initiatives and critical program needs. However, due to budget realities, 20 were chosen for priority hiring.

Today, I am announcing the first group of academic positions that I have approved for recruitment and hiring. As discussed below, these positions will be funded by salary reversions resulting from retirements and separations that have occurred over the last year.
