As a result of recent changes to federal regulations, all federal government contractors are now required to regularly survey employees regarding their disability status. The regulatory change is intended to address a substantial lag in the employment rate of individuals with disabilities that persists despite technological advancements that have made it possible for people with disabilities to apply for and successfully perform a broad array of jobs.
All University of California employees will soon receive an email asking them to complete a brief, voluntary survey about their disability status. You may have already received the email because some were sent last week.

I am pleased to inform you that at the direction of President Janet Napolitano, the University is making plans to implement a systemwide salary increase program for policy-covered (non-represented) career staff employees and faculty/academics for the 2014-15 fiscal year.

Effective July 2014, ANR non-represented career staff employees, excluding student employees, will receive a three (3) percent across the board salary increase, subject to the criteria set out in the implementation guidelines that will be communicated to you in the near future. A lot has been written of the Heartbleed bug, and server administrators are diligently patching servers. As security experts have had time to explore the bug and its effect, they are concluding the threat is not as bad as first thought. However, changing your password/passphrase is a good idea by any account.

Five candidates are being considered to fill ANR's new vice provost position, which will oversee UC Cooperative Extension in the counties. ANR members are invited to watch the five candidates present their answers to the question, “What is your vision for the next 20 years for UC Cooperative Extension?” The candidates will also describe how they would provide leadership and advocacy for a unified ANR program with a strong statewide, campus and local presence.
