Another new feature was unleashed on Site Builder 3. This one gives you the chance to erase the past. That's right, all of the problems of yesterday, gone with the click of a checkbox.
Site Builder 3 allows you to put ratings on each one of your pages. Go to Page Properties and enable ratings to place a "out of five stars" or "helpful/not helpful" poll at the bottom of your page. Users can then tell you what they think.
Now you can erase these opinions (only after you've improved the contents of the page, of course!). Simply go to any page that has ratings enabled and has received at least one rating. You'll now see the "Current Rating" and a checkbox that will reset it.

Mike Poe and Ray Lucas, part of ANRCS's media team, recorded our Site Builder 3 training on October 27, 2010, in Davis. They used Adobe Connect and a camera to capture the essence, the very SOUL of Site Builder 3. Although I can't bring myself to watch the presentation, I've heard it is almost adequate.
You can now view the class in its six-hour entirety. I know what you're thinking: how about a "Director's Cut" with an additional four hours of footage. Maybe a gag-reel? Someday, folks, someday.

In response to my own blog post, I've added another option to Spotlight Stories. In the Spotlight Group editor, you can now choose to add a link to "View All." This will bypass the story and take the user directly to the list of all stories.
Hopefully, this will assist those of you who would like to invite users to view more than just the one random or most recent story added.

I've received a few inquiries in the last couple of days regarding the use of "random" in some Site Builder assets (notably, the Spotlight Stories). The option allows the page to display a random story each time that page is called.
The question I get is 'why, then, does the same story often show up,' and how 'can you (Dave) fix it.'
Let's take a look at how the function actually works before I make any comments on why we do it the way we do.
WARNING - TINY BIT OF MATH AHEAD
Basically, a random function will pull a number from between 1 and whatever limit you assign....

Site Builder codes--those asterisk encased numbers strewn about the system--just got an upgrade! You can still use them the way you always have: insert a code, such as *file1234* into any text field in Site Builder 3, and the code gets converted to the file or a link to the file!
Now, you can also put file codes, page codes and survey codes into the link popup of the text editor.
The link editor popup. Highlight the text you want to link and click the chain link button on the text editor toolbar to add a link!
Q: Why would you do that? What could you...
