About Program Council

UC ANR Program Council advises the Vice President on statewide program planning, program delivery, and strategic allocation of UC ANR resources.

The council helps support coordination and collaboration across the UC ANR network to strengthen statewide programs, initiatives, and priorities.


Goals

  • Provide coordinated statewide planning, evaluation, and prioritization for UC ANR program direction and delivery
  • Develop recommendations for UC ANR from a statewide perspective
  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of UC ANR program teams, workgroups, conferences, strategic initiatives, and statewide programs
  • Provide leadership in defining statewide goals and fostering dialogue across the UC ANR network

Key Activities

Program Council serves in an advisory role on topics including:

  • Cooperative Extension Position Call
  • UC ANR funding opportunities
  • UC ANR budget calls for programmatic unit requests
  • Reviews of Statewide Programs and Institutes, based on recommendations from ad hoc committees
  • Other emerging and ad hoc programmatic activities

How Program Council Works

Program Council meets monthly, except in August, and makes recommendations through a consensus-based process. Final decision-making authority remains with the Vice President.

The council works collaboratively by:

  • Participating in the design and execution of work plans
  • Providing input on key programmatic issues and priorities
  • Engaging stakeholders as appropriate
  • Reflecting on and evaluating council activities and accomplishments
