Returning Volunteers

Welcome Back!

Our volunteers are the heart of this program. You are the reason young people feel a sense of belonging, discover their interests, and grow into confident, capable leaders. The time, care, and consistency you bring to your club, project, or program truly makes a difference.

Whether you’re leading meetings, mentoring youth, or supporting behind the scenes, your role matters — not just in what you do, but in how you show up for young people.

We’re grateful you’re here and excited for another year of impact together.

Remember to re-apply annually by December 31

All 4-H volunteers must be appointed annually. If you are a current 4-H Adult Volunteer, to continue in the next year you need to re-apply and be re-appointed by December 31st to continue with no break in service.

Re-application process

*Update and/or submit a new Annual Project Plan to the County Office*

STEP 1

Update your Z-Suite Profile
  1. Update your Z-Suite profile. Log in to Z-Suite to update your profile to enroll for the new year. Please make sure the email address in the system is correct and one you check regularly.

    STEP 2: Returning Volunteer Training

After you update and submit your Z Suites profile, check the Household email you used in Z Suite for eXtension login instructions. If you used a paper enrollment form, you will have to check with your county 4-H Representative for the instructions.

STEP 3: Get Approved

The 4-H Office reviews and approves 4-H volunteer appointments after all the application requirements and mandatory trainings are completed. Approval is not done automatically, and it requires staff to manually review and confirm each enrollment. If you want to fast track your approval reach out to the local Santa Barbara 4-H Staff.

If you have a break in service as a 4-H Volunteer

If you have a break in service as a 4-H Adult Volunteer, which is not re-applying by December 31st annually, you will be considered as having a break in service, and will need to follow the process for New Volunteers
