Modernizing RECs Across California
The Real Estate and Facilities Development Department is coordinating major facility revitalization efforts across multiple UC ANR Research and Extension Centers (RECs) throughout California.
These projects are intended to:
- Improve visibility and accessibility
- Enhance public engagement
- Support UC and non-UC researchers
- Modernize facilities and operational infrastructure
- Strengthen integration with California’s agricultural communities
South Coast Research & Extension Center
The South Coast REC project includes development of an approximately 9,700-square-foot engagement center on a 1.6-acre site.
Planned improvements include:
The project is currently completing design and entering the permitting phase, with construction anticipated to begin in September.
Desert Research & Extension Center
Future Projects
Additional planned initiatives include:
- Hansen REC Engagement Center
- Lindcove REC Citrus Research & Facilities Building
- Elkus REC Office & Administrative Building
Programming efforts are anticipated to begin this year, with design phases for Hansen and Lindcove expected to follow.
