Genoa Starrs is a GIS Programmer with UC ANR's Informatics and GIS (IGIS) Statewide Program, where she supports geospatial research, training, and outreach across the division. She provides direct technical support to ANR and external researchers, including data collection, data science, and developing publication-ready graphics. She also develops interactive visualizations and web apps in ArcGIS Online, helping researchers and organizations share data and communicate findings. Her toolkit includes Python, R, and ArcGIS, which she applies to spatial analysis, data wrangling, mapping, and remote sensing.
Starrs holds a Master's degree in Forestry from UC Berkeley, a graduate certificate in Geographic Information Science and Technology (GIST), and is a Certified Rangeland Manager. Prior to joining IGIS in 2023, her work in natural resources management extended from fieldwork (inventory, measurement, and monitoring) to landscape-scale pattern analysis, ecosystem service valuation, and natural resources conservation planning.
