Collectively, the Lake Tahoe Basin Weed Coordinating Group (LTBWCG) group is dedicated ensuring that invasive weed detection, management and education is effective and seamless across the five county, bi-state region.

The Lake Tahoe Invasive Weeds Coordinating Group was formed in 2002, operating under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that is updated and renewed every five years.

How invasive weeds reproduce and proliferate; how invasive weeds effect business, recreation, and the environment of the Tahoe Basin. These weeds have been determined to pose the greatest threat to the local ecosystem. Information sheets with photos and descriptions of each plant are available.

Invasive weeds reproduce profusely by seed and/or root, outcompeting native and other desirable plants. Invasive weeds can damage our forests, roads, parks, neighborhoods and natural areas.

The Lake Tahoe Basin Weed Coordinating Group annually ranks and prioritizes weed species at risk of introduction and spread into the Lake Tahoe Basin region. The evaluation is based on historical survey and mapping data gathered by cooperating partners in and around the Basin.

Originally hosted in FFY24, minor edits have been made to reflect changes to evaluation requirements in FFY25. This webinar was designed for LHD staff and subcontractors new to CDPH CFHL who will be engaged in evaluation, i.e., PEARS, SLAQ, IOE, or Adult DE.

Healthy Default Beverage Project (HDB) NPI evaluation staff have worked with LHDs in 10 counties to identify opportunities to increase consumption of milk and water among children in conjunction with new legislation promoting healthy beverages to be included in kids' meals.
