Ask a Master Gardener (AAMG) started its season in March 2026. AAMG is unique in that we reach Contra Costa County residents as they go about their lives at Farmers Markets, Our Garden and single–day events throughout the county. Our season runs from March to October.
Five Farmers Markets, Danville, Martinez, Pinole, San Ramon City Center, and Walnut Creek Downtown, start in March instead of April to better promote the Great Tomato Plant Sale. All AAMG events are posted on the Volunteer Management System (VMS) Calendar on the 10th of the prior month.
Our other seven Farmers Markets and Our Garden AAMG tables will begin in April. We also have three great Single Day Events in April at:
- Gehringer Garden Open House (4/4/26)
- John Muir Earth Day/Birthday Celebration (4/18/26)
- San Ramon Historical Foundation Sheep Shearing Day (4/25/26)

AAMG will also table at four Great Tomato Plant Sales events, 4/12-4/13 in Central County, 4/18 at Rivertown Demonstration Garden in East County and 5/2 at the Richmond Art Center in West County.
We reach thousands of home gardeners each year, providing them with UCANR–approved, evidence–based information to help them grow food, maintain their landscapes, conserve water, and adopt sustainable gardening practices.
We want to encourage returning and new UC Master Gardeners, especially the 2026 graduating class, to join us at our tables. You'll be outdoors, spend time with welcoming, experienced UC Master Gardeners, and develop confidence in serving Contra Costa residents.
AAMG held a fun and informative kick-off event at Bisso Lane on March 24, 2025. We shared new resources and new items for our show-and-tell boxes and distributed updated print materials.
