California Project Learning Tree
Welcome Cyndi Chavez!
On May 1st, Cyndi Chavez began her role as the SoCal Community and Environmental Education Specialist for CA Project Learning Tree! Having a full time person focused on serving new communities and building new partnerships means we will be able to better serve the PLT network.
Cyndi will be reaching out to our VIPs in SoCal but please feel free to connect with Cyndi if you have any questions, ideas, or just want to get involved with our efforts!
Here is a little bit of info to get you started:
Cynthia earned her BA from California State University, Fullerton in Anthropology. She also received her M.S. degree from CSUF in Environmental Studies. During her time there she was part of a research program supported by the USDA called Urban Agriculture Community-based Research Experience (U-ACRE). It was with the support of U-ACRE that she was able to start on-campus gardens in local elementary and middles schools. These gardens were used as outdoor labs to teach STEM education. Since graduating Cynthia has worked in the field biology world studying endangered plants and birds. Environmental education has always been her passion and she is looking forward to combining her background in biology and education to support PLT.
