4-H Clubs
Whether you live in a city, small town, or farm, 4-H has something for you! Joining a local 4-H club is the first step!
4-H allows young people many opportunities to build confidence, learn responsibility, and develop skills that will last a lifetime.
- A place to make friends and share interests ranging from learning to sew to raising rabbits, or from learning about healthy foods to arts and crafts.
- A place where youth work together to make a positive difference in their community, and certified adult volunteers make a powerful difference in young people's lives.
- 4-H Community Clubs, located throughout western Nevada County, vary in projects, meeting times, and location. Find a club that best fits your needs and attend a meeting to become a part of this exciting program. Feel free to contact the Club's Leader if you have questions about 4-H, Club activities, and projects that the club offers.
- Clubs generally meet once a month, and projects meet on a variable schedule, depending on project needs.
- Most 4-H clubs meet monthly from September through July.
Cost
There is a program fee for youth members and adult volunteers to participate in California 4-H programs. The cost for youth members is $67.00 for the 2024-2025 program year. The cost for adult volunteers is $28.00 per year. If assistance for the program fee is needed, please contact your 4-H Club Leader or 4-H Staff at the 4-H office (530) 273-4563.
4-H Projects
A 4-H project is:
* Planned work in an area of interest to the 4-H member.
* Guided by a 4-H adult volunteer who is the project leader.
* Aimed at planned objectives that can be attained and measured.
* Summarized by some form of record keeping.
* A minimum of six hours of project instruction.
Projects help 4-H members find and nurture their spark or passion. For additional information on how to help identify your spark and the 4-H project areas, click here. 4-H members enroll in at least one project each year. New members are encouraged to join only one or two projects, to help gain experience and connect with members and volunteers.
