Summer 2025 In-Person California Naturalist & Climate Stewards Instructor Training

PLEASE NOTE: There will be mandatory on-site accommodations for this training that may include additional costs to be determined at a later date. Due to limited on-site lodging and other considerations, this training is exclusively limited to participating instructors only.
This training is a mandatory introduction for new partner organizations who have completed a partner interest form and have initiated plans together with the UC Environmental Stewards team to offer a course. For our existing established partner programs, this training is optional for any new instructors that are part of your team, and strongly requested of any instructors who have not attended a training within the last 3 years.

Costs:
California Naturalist Instructor Training: $275/person
Climate Stewards Instructor Training: $495/person
On-site Accommodations (TENTATIVE pricing. Subject to change. Includes room and board):$250
Time Commitment:
Approximately 26 hours of asynchronous materials to be completed before class meeting plus additional in-person learning hours.
Attendance
Instructors must complete all asynchronous materials prior to the beginning of the training and attend all synchronous sessions.
There will be a required Instructor Training Kick Off webinar on July 23rd, 2025.
Training Staff
The training team includes UC Environmental Stewards staff, with support from experienced program instructors and local experts.
Asynchronous Materials
Prior to each class session registrants will receive materials for asynchronous review. To maximize our meeting time, we have prepared these materials with essential information about the California Naturalist and Climate Stewards programs. These materials will be referenced throughout the face to face sessions, so please be sure to review and complete all assignments.
Additionally, we recommend participants become familiar with the UC Environmental Stewards website and the UC California Naturalist Handbook and the UC Climate Stewards Handbook that serve as textbooks for the programs, respectively.
