His work also supports tribal and community garden organizations, and the Master Gardener program.

Emeritus Advisor Deborah Giraud served the ornamental, vegetable, and fruit producers of Humboldt and Del Norte counties, providing information on cultural practices, crop production, and pest control. She also worked on local agricultural land use issues and Community Development. A sample of previous projects include:
  • Biological control of aphids, lily bulb storage conditions, and nematode control for cut flowers;
  • Landscape plant water use; and
  • Farm succession planning that includes providing workshops and technical services for landowners to plan and implement strategies for the next generation of farmers.
