Becoming a UC Master Gardener

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2026 training class. If you are interested in becoming a UC Master Gardener volunteer, we expect to host our next training in 2028, with applications available in Fall 2027.
We hold public workshops throughout the year. If you were unable to take the full course, consider joining us at a one of these fun events.

Key Dates for 2026 Training
Provided for your reference.
- Applications available: October 1, 2025
- Applications due: December 1, 2025
- Informal applicant interviews: Planned between December 9 and January 14.
- If accepted, payment due: February 6 and LiveScan completed: February 25
- Training begins: February 11, 2026
- Graduation Picnic: June 10, 2026
Course fee: $160 (covers program materials and training expenses).

These are the tentative training session dates:
- Feb 11 – 6:00 pm
- Feb 25 – 6:00 pm
- Feb 28 – 10:00 am–3:00 pm
- Mar 14 – 10:00 am–3:00 pm
- Apr 8 – 6:00 pm
- Apr 22 – 6:00 pm
- May 9 – 9:00 am–2:00 pm
- May 14 – 6:00 pm
- Jun 10 – 5:00–7:30 pm (Graduation 🎓)
All dates are planned to be in the Bishop Area. Except graduation, evening sessions will be indoors. Weekend dates will include outdoor activities.
